Srinagar, Sep 06: Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing (HP&M) on Wednesday organised a daylong awareness workshop on the Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro-food Processing Enterprises (PM-FME) Scheme at Srinagar.

The Centrally-sponsored PM FME scheme aims at providing financial, technical and business support for the upgradation of existing micro food processing enterprises.
Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary APD impressed upon the officers to take substantial steps in the successful implementation of the scheme. She said the number of registrations and sanctioning of cases under the scheme needs to be ramped up for its successful implementation.
Kamili said that J&K has a huge potential owing to the large number of unique products which paves the way for the upgradation of micro food processing units. She emphasised the importance of coordination between departments and banks to ensure the successful implementation of the PMFME scheme. He urged officers to work diligently to minimise loan rejections.
Shabnam highlighted the need for bankers to be approachable and friendly towards PMFME applicants. She said banks need to expedite the pending loan applications so that the beneficiaries don’t have to wait.
The Special Secretary APD gave an overview of the scheme and the support provided by the department to the beneficiaries. He gave a PowerPoint presentation in which the role of the scheme, respective capacity-building measures, subsidies, use of common infrastructure and Common Incubation Centres, etc were highlighted.
