Ensure strengthened surveillance at vital sites: IGP Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 24:  Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, V. K. Birdi on Friday called upon officers to reinforce the anti-terrorist grid through a combination of heightened intelligence efforts and intensified operations.
He said there is a need to enhance security surveillance of all vital establishments and locations besides to take care of vulnerable persons to thwart the nefarious designs of terrorists in these areas.
Addressing the comprehensive security review meetings in South Kashmir’s Shopian and Pulwama districts along with DIG South Kashmir Rayees Mohammad Bhat. During the meeting strong emphasis was placed on maintaining vigilant surveillance over terrorist associates while highlighting the implementation of decisive legal measures
IGP Kashmir, Birdi, emphasised the critical need to bolster security surveillance at vital establishments and locations. He underscored the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals to thwart the nefarious designs of terrorists in the region.
 During these sessions, participating officers provided an overview of the proactive measures taken in their respective districts to counter challenges and threats posed by hostile elements at the grassroots level.
IGP Kashmir, in his interactions, urged officers to fortify the anti-terrorist grid through heightened intelligence efforts and intensified operations.
The emphasis was placed on maintaining vigilant surveillance over terrorist associates and implementing decisive legal measures.
 Stressing the crucial importance of enhancing security surveillance at vital establishments and locations, he underscored the need to protect vulnerable individuals from the nefarious designs of terrorists.
Reiterating the imperative to closely monitor terrorist associates/ANEs and take necessary legal measures against them, IGP Kashmir highlighted a focused initiative against the drug menace.
He directed the personal supervision of narcotics cases, improvement of conviction rates, and the establishment of robust police-public relationships, particularly with the youth.
 Additionally, officers were instructed to cultivate strong police-public relationships through regular interactive meetings with the general public, especially the youth, to curb the drug menace and strengthen the police-public interface. He urged the development of a mechanism to strengthen the bond between the people and the police.
Emphasizing stringent measures against the misuse of social media for inciting violence, IGP Kashmir stressed the importance of maintaining close synergy between the police and other forces to ensure a peaceful environment.
 The meeting in Shopian was attended by SP Shopian Tanushree, Addl. SP Shopian Naresh Singh and other senior officers. Similarly, in Pulwama, the meeting was attended by SSP Pulwama Mohammad Yousif, Addl. SP Pulwama Tanveer Ahmad and other senior officers of the district.
