Udhampur, Dec 20: In a significant development, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha participated in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra at Ballian Panchayat in Udhampur today.
Commending the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their enthusiastic participation in the Yatra, the Lt Governor highlighted its objective of saturating government flagship schemes.
Addressing the gathering, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha underscored the Yatra’s role in fulfilling the common man’s dreams, as pledged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized its pivotal role in transforming lives by ensuring the widespread delivery of benefits and promoting holistic, inclusive development in both rural and urban areas.
The Lt Governor urged elected representatives and political leaders to actively participate, fostering healthy competition among districts to elevate Jammu and Kashmir as a top performer in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra program.
Highlighting the importance of socio-economic empowerment, the Lt Governor stressed the need to uplift the poor, women, farmers, and marginalized sections of society to achieve the goals of Viksit Bharat and Viksit Jammu Kashmir.
In his address, Lt Governor Sinha called for an increase in female literacy rates and ensuring that no child is deprived of education. He affirmed the administration’s commitment to establishing quality primary schools in every panchayat.
Responding to the demands raised by PRI members, the Lt Governor assured swift redressal of the drinking water supply issue in Udhampur city. He directed the Deputy Commissioner of Udhampur to promptly address concerns related to the Udhampur Master Plan.
During the event, Lt Governor Sinha administered the ‘Hamara Sankalp Viksit Bharat’ pledge to the attendees. He visited various department stalls, distributing sanction letters and benefits to beneficiaries under different schemes.

Calling upon the educational institutions and teaching community, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha urged a collective effort to reinforce the ideals of nation-building and transform the youth into ambassadors of a progressive India.
Speaking at the annual day celebration of Sainik School, Nagrota, the Lt Governor emphasised that the education system plays a pivotal role in strengthening culture and ethos, empowering the youth to contribute to a strong, prosperous, and Viksit Bharat (developed India).
Congratulating the administration, students, and teachers of Sainik School Nagrota, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha commended the institution for upholding its motto of “Gyan, Veerta aur Anushasan” – knowledge, bravery, and discipline. He highlighted that the school’s alumni are making significant contributions to the nation in various sectors.
Lt Governor Sinha stated, “Education nurtures future leaders who symbolise an ambitious India, determined to create a knowledge society and advance India’s economic prowess in the world.” He advised students to focus on life skills, discover their inner voice, and learn through their own experiences and collaborations.
Stressing the importance of discipline, strong character, and self-confidence in overcoming challenges, he encouraged students to embrace these qualities for a glorious future.
Reiterating the commitment of the Union Territory Administration to support Sainik School Nagrota, Lt Governor Sinha extended felicitations to the cadets who excelled in the prestigious NDA examination. As part of the ceremony, he handed over a 32-seater school bus, valued at Rs 21.38 lakh and sponsored by the UT Administration, to the officials of Sainik School.
The Lt Governor received a ceremonial Guard of Honor from the students and presented academic awards to meritorious cadets. He inaugurated an Arts and Science Exhibition and visited the School’s IT Computer Lab and Atal Tinkering Lab. The event featured captivating performances by students on the theme of national integration and social issues.
