Ensure maximum participation in electoral process: CEO Pole to first time voters

Srinagar, Aug 21: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Pandurang K Pole (P K Pole) on Wednesday urged first time voters to ensure maximum participation in electoral process.

CEO PK Pole was interacting with first-time voters from Jammu University and urged students to ensure maximum participation in electoral process.

“We are committed to conducting free, fair, transparent, peaceful, and incident-free elections. The right to vote is a fundamental constitutional right for citizens, and everyone should exercise this right,” he said.

Pole said people should use their right to caste the vote and participate in the largest democracy and take active part in the elections.

As per figures, a total of 93,284 voters have been added in the Special Summary Revision across Jammu and Kashmir while the elector population ratio has improved from 0.59 to 0.60.

“The number of young voters in the 18 to 19 years age group has increased by 45,964, with 24,310 of them being women even as the overall number of women voters has also gone up by 51,142,” the CEO Pole on Tuesday.

The total number of young electors in Jammu and Kashmir in the 18-29 age group stands at 25.34 Lakhs.

Meanwhile on the directions of CEO Pole, 24×7 Command and Control Centre established at CEO office at Jammu and Srinagar to check Model Code of Conduct violations through high end cameras.

He also said that training of MCC, MCMC Paid News, EEM Nodal Officers at District and AC Level was conducted at Nirvachan Bhawan, Jammu for the upcoming polls in J&K.

ECI has already issued the notification for the first phase of the assembly elections, marking the start of the nomination process.Voting will be held on 24 seats in the Union Territory in the first phase of the election on September 18.

The last date for filing nominations for the first phase of assembly polls is August 27 while the scrutiny will take place on August 28. The last date for the withdrawal of candidature is August 30.
