Jammu, Feb 19: Principal Secretary, Agriculture Production Department, Shailendra Kumar on Monday convened a meeting at the Civil Secretariat to oversee the progress of various projects aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity in Jammu & Kashmir.
During the meeting, Kumar directed the concerned officers to ensure that the projects effectively translate laboratory technologies into practical applications in the field. He urged the PGMC Chairmen overseeing these initiatives to furnish action plans for the fiscal year 2024-25 through Mission Director HADP.
Key stakeholders including Mission Director Yasha Mudgal, Director Finance from APD, Director Agriculture for Jammu and Kashmir, technical officers, and Chairmen of Project Grounding and Monitoring Committee from SKUAST Jammu and Kashmir participated both in person and virtually.
The discussion centered around the standardization of sensor-based smart agricultural practices to automate operations, thereby enhancing profitability while minimizing pesticide usage for sustainable agricultural production. Additionally, the development of the J&K Soil and Land Resources Information System (JKSLRI) was highlighted as a crucial aspect.
Furthermore, various components of Innovative Extension Approaches were reviewed to promote agriculture and support Human Resource Development, ensuring a technological backbone for sustainable and accelerated transformation in agriculture.
Director Agriculture Kashmir and senior officers from SKUAST provided detailed insights into the implementation of action plans for HADP projects, covering a range of physical and financial activities essential for agricultural development in the region.
