The Vice President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Omar Abdullah Tuesday raised concerns about the preferential treatment being given to Er. Rashid, asking why are the fate of other jailed individuals being left hanging in the balance while he receives special treatment?

He said this while addressing a series of public meetings across Budgam. He was accompanied by MP Central Kashmir Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi and Treasurer Shammi Oberoi.

In his address, he questioned why Er Rashid is being released on bail while others convicted under similar laws are not receiving the same treatment. He asserted that Rashid’s release was solely to manipulate and divide the voices of Kashmiris. “Why only Engineer Rashid? Why is he receiving special treatment? What about Yasin Malik, Shabir Shah who are also imprisoned under the same law? he said.

He emphasized that Rashid’s release is a strategic move to sway votes and aid the BJP in gaining control of the assembly, further solidifying the decisions made on August 5, 2019.”

“Our people are currently grappling with a myriad of challenges, including underdevelopment, lack of accountability, and the absence of a duly elected government. These issues have been steadily escalating, leaving our people vulnerable and marginalized. NC is committed to providing much-needed support and assistance to our people, who have been adversely affected by these undemocratic policies. We will work tirelessly to ensure that our people receive the necessary resources and services to address their needs and improve their quality of life,”he added. (KNS)
