Engaging Youth in Sports Our Top Priority: MLA Kangan

Ganderbal, April 25:  MLA Kangan Mian Mehar Ali said that steering youth towards sports and constructive activities remains his top priority, as he distributed sports kits among local players in Kangan on Saturday.

 

Speaking to Rising Kashmir the MLA emphasized that his vision is to create better opportunities for the youth through sports infrastructure and grassroots initiatives.

 

“We want to actively engage our youth in sports. The commitments we made during elections will be fulfilled, and major sports infrastructure will be developed in Kangan,”, he said.

 

Highlighting the importance of sports, Mian Mehar Ali noted that such activities play a crucial role in shaping a disciplined and healthy society.

 

Sports channel the energy of young people in a positive direction and help them stay away from negative influences. Our aim is to support talent at the grassroots level so that our youth can compete at higher levels, he added.

 

During the programme sports kits containing essential equipment for games like cricket and football were distributed among local youth. The event witnessed a large turnout, reflecting strong community participation and enthusiasm.

 

Local youth, while speaking to Rising Kashmir appreciated the initiative and said that lack of proper sports equipment had long been a challenge. They expressed hope that such support would boost their morale and enable them to participate more actively in tournaments and competitions.

 

Community members and local representatives also welcomed the move, terming it a constructive step towards strengthening sports culture in the region.
