Budgam, Feb 14: Irrigation and Flood Control (I & FC) division in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Tuesday asked people to remove all illegal encroachments from the banks of the rivers and canals within fifteen, failing which action would be taken against encroachers.
An official from the Irrigation Division Budgam told Rising Kashmir that all those persons who have illegally encroached land and planted trees on the banks of the rivers and canals across the Budgam district have been asked to remove their illegal encroachments. In this regard, a public notice has also been issued.
“In case any person fails to remove illegal encroachments within the given time frame, the Jal Shakti Irrigation and Flood Control department will take legal action under Section 67 of the Water Resources Act, 2010 to remove all illegal constructions and encroachments,” he said, adding “If any cost is incurred on this demolition drive will be recovered from the violator.”
