Empowering women vital for J&K’s development: Advisor Bhatnagar

Srinagar, May 30: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar Tuesday chaired the 27th Board of Directors (BoDs) meet of Jammu and Kashmir Women’s Development Corporation (JKWDC) here.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare department, Sheetal Nanda; Managing Director, JKWDC, Ulfat Jabeen; DG, Budget and representatives of Planning Development and Monitoring department, National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC), National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC), National Handicapped Finance Development Corporation (NHFDC) both in person and through video conferencing.
During the meeting, the Board held detailed deliberations on different aspects of the corporation besides action taken report of previous board meeting was also discussed in meeting. The meeting also discussed strategies and initiatives aimed at enhancing women’s development and welfare in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting also focused on formulating progressive policies, devising effective implementation frameworks, and exploring innovative avenues for advancing women’s economic, social, and educational empowerment across Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking during the meeting, Advisor Bhatnagar emphasized the Corporation’s unwavering dedication to empowering women from diverse backgrounds, enabling them to achieve economic independence and equal participation in society. He highlighted the need for inclusive programs and initiatives that cater to the unique challenges faced by women in the region, acknowledging that empowering women is vital for the overall development of Jammu and Kashmir.
Commending the corporation for their performance in previous financial year, Advisor Bhatnagar called upon the management of the corporation to launch massive awareness campaign in all districts of Jammu and Kashmir so that maximum women take benefits of different schemes operated by JKWDC. He also asked them to revise the targets for the ongoing financial year so that more women are brought under the ambit of JKWDC.
During the meeting the Board of Directors reviewed the Corporation’s ongoing schemes, evaluated their impact on women’s lives, and explored potential ways and means to further strengthen their efforts. The discussion also revolved around identifying key areas where the Corporation can expand its reach and engage with marginalized communities, ensuring that no woman is left behind.
The BoDs approved and adopted draft Balance Sheet for the year 2021-22. The Board also decided that the vacant posts will be filled only after the proper recruitment rules are notified by the corporation with the approval of Administrative department.
