In a significant step towards fostering empowerment and resilience among young girls, the District Hub for Empowerment of Women in Doda joined hands with the Sports Club Doda to organize a one-day self-defense training program in Gujjar Bakarwal Girls Hostel. A group of enthusiastic girls gathered to equip themselves with essential skills to tackle challenging situations.

Addressing the audience Humerah Balwan Gender Specialist, DHEW encouraged the girls to actively participate in sports activities and developing physical skills alongside academics. “You should focus on skills and also hold discussions on situational awareness, risk assessment and the importance of personal boundaries,” she added. Empowering young women with knowledge and practical tools contributes not only to their individual well-being but also to the overall safety of the community.

The training program aimed not only to teach physical self-defense techniques but also to instill a sense of confidence and awareness. The girls were guided through practical and effective self-defense maneuvers, emphasizing the importance of personal safety and the ability to respond assertively in difficult circumstances.
