Body of a elderly woman on Saturday was recovered from Nallah Madhumati in Kaloosa area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
A police official told Rising Kashmir that female body was found at Nallah Madhumati in Kaloosa area by locals who later informed the police.
He said that the team of police reached the spot and retrieved the body from the Nallah.
He said that the body was shifted to the district hospital Bandipora for medico-legal formalities.
The official identified the body as Noora Begum (81), wife of Ab Gaffar Ganie from Sonerwani, Bandipora.
The body was later handed over to legal heirs for last rites after conducting the legal-medico formalities, official said.
Police has initiated inquest proceedings to investigate the incident further and determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, he added.
