Srinagar, Sep 27: Eight laborers sustained injuries in an explosion that occurred in a cement mixing machine in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday. The sudden explosion caused panic among the locals in the area.
Following the incident, the injured were taken to a nearby hospital where their condition is said to be stable and out of danger.
After conducting a preliminary investigation, law enforcement authorities dismissed any involvement of terrorist related activity attributing the blast to a “load carrier” vehicle transporting a concrete vibration machine, a portable generator, and a container of oil.
A police spokesman said that an explosion occurred in the cement mix settling vibration machine, adjacent portable generator and tin can of oil being carried with labourers in a load carrier at Larkipora Anantnag.
“Eight labourers sustained burn injuries and they are being treated at a hospital. All are stable. No terrorist angle observed. Investigation has been started,” he added.
The police officer said all are safe and sound. Prima facie the blast looks like some equipment failure. Police was on the spot assessing the situation,” he added.
