Srinagar, Mar 30: Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam announced on Sunday evening that the crescent for the month of Shawwal has been sighted in Jammu and Kashmir. Consequently, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Monday.
The decision was made based on sufficient evidence gathered from various parts of J&K re-garding the crescent sighting.
Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam extended Eid greetings to the Muslim Ummah, particularly to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, wishing them joy, happiness, peace, and prosperity on this aus-picious occasion.
He urged people to celebrate Eid with simplicity and to remember those in need. He also em-phasized the importance of preserving the true spirit of Eid, cautioning against being overtaken by fashion and extravagance.
Eid-ul-Fitr, known as the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” marks the end of Ramadan. It is a time of joy, gratitude, and charity, where Muslims gather for special prayers, share festive meals, and help those in need through Zakat-ul-Fitr.
