Srinagar, Sep 28: On the eve of Eid e Milad-un-Nabi (SAW), the joyous celebration of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), night long prayers and supplications resonated throughout Kashmir on Thursday. This annual commemoration, observed on the 12th of Rabi ul Awal in the Islamic calendar, unites thousands of devoted souls in reverence and jubilation each year.
The major night long congregation was held at the Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar, where thousands including men, women, and children participated in congregational prayers to catch a glimpse of the relic of the Prophet of Islam (SAW) which was displayed after morning (Fajr) prayers.
Witnesses recounted emotional scenes during the display of the holy relic, as devotees shed tears, recited verses from the holy Quran, and sought blessings from Allah. At the Hazratbal shrine, shortly after the “Fajr” namaz, the first prayer of the day, a cleric exhibited the “Moie-e-Muqadas” (Holy Relic) of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) before the devout worshipers.
The city of Srinagar, along with its markets and buildings, donned a resplendent attire of colorful lights and banners, adorned with messages commemorating Eid Milad-un-Nabi, Sallallahu-o-Alaihe Wa Aalehe Wassallum.
For two days at the shrine and the following Friday, devotees will have the privilege of glimpsing the holy relic after every prayer. Night-long prayers were held at other shrines and mosques across the Kashmir valley, including Jenab Sahab Soura, Asar-e-Sharif Shahri Kalashpora, Lal Bazar, Khanqah-e-Maula, Ziarat Hazrat Dastgeer Sahab (RA), Syed Yaqoob Sahab (RA), Sonwar, Khawaja Naqshband Sahab (RA), and Ziarat Makhdoom Sahib (RA).
The shrine managements have ensured that devotees could view the Holy Relic after each prayer throughout the day. A comprehensive set of arrangements, encompassing transportation, water, medical facilities, and electricity, have been put in place to cater to the needs of the faithful. Vendors also established stalls outside the shrines, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
In other parts of the valley. Speakers at these events illuminated various aspects of the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), fostering a deeper understanding among the gathering.
