Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi celebrated with religious fervor

Srinagar, Oct 9: Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), was celebrated with religious fervor, gaiety, and enthusiasm across Kashmir on Sunday.
Every year, 12th Rabi ul Awal (Islamic calendar) is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) all over the world.
Thousands of devotees thronged the Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar to get a glimpse of a holy relic of the Prophet of Islam (SAW) at the shrine.
The devotees, including men, women, and children, visited the shrine throughout the day. However, afternoon prayers witnessed the highest attendance.
According to eyewitnesses, “Emotional scenes were witnessed during the display of the holy relic, as devotees were seen in tears, reciting verses from the holy Quran and seeking blessings from Allah.”
At the Hazratbal shrine, just after the “Fajr” salaat, the first prayer of the day, a cleric displayed the “Moie-e-Muqadas,(Holy Relic) of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in front of the worshippers.
Markets and buildings have been lavishly decorated and illuminated with lights, colors, and banners bearing messages commemorating Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Sallallahu-o-Alaihe Wa Aalehe Wassallum).
The devotees would have a glimpse of the holy relic after every prayer for the two days at the shrine and on the following Friday. Similar night-long prayers were also held at various places in the Kashmir valley, including Jenab Sahib Soura in downtown Srinagar.
According to shrine management, devotees have a glimpse of the Holy Relic after every prayer throughout the day.
The authorities had made all arrangements, including transport, water, medical care, and electricity for the devotees. Vendors had also set up their stalls outside the shrines.
Various religious and social organizations organised Seerat programmes and Milad processions were taken out at many places where speakers highlighted various aspects of the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Milad processions were also taken out from various parts of the valley.
Prayers were held at Jenab Sahab Soura, Asar-e-Sharif Shahri Kalashpora, Lal Bazar, Khanqah-e-Maula, Ziarat Hazrat Dastgeer Sahab (RA), Syed Yaqoob Sahab (RA), Sonwar, Khawaja Naqshband Sahab (RA) and Ziarat Makhdoom Sahib (RA).

PM Modi extends best wishes on Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi
New Delhi, Oct 09: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended his greetings to the nation on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi.
“Best wishes on Milad-un-Nabi. May this occasion further the spirit of peace, togetherness and compassion in our society. Eid Mubarak,” tweeted PM Modi. Eid Milad-un-Nabi is celebrated annually to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad and is observed in the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar, which commences with the sighting of the moon. The occasion also marks the death anniversary of the Prophet.
One of the most important parts of Eid Milad-un-Nabi is to celebrate the life of the Prophet, his teachings, sufferings, and his character, as he even forgave his enemies. Muslims celebrate the occasion by wearing new clothes, offering prayers, and exchanging gifts.
Earlier on Saturday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended warm greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad Un Nabi and expressed hope that this festival will give new inspiration to enhance peace and harmony in the society.
In his congratulatory message to the people of the state, Chief Minister said, “This festival is celebrated on the birthday of Prophet Hazrat Mohammad. I hope that this festival will give new inspiration to increase peace and harmony in the society.”
The Chief Minister has appealed to the people to organize programs on the occasion of Eid-e-Miladun Nabi, taking all precautions in view of COVID-19 infection.
Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi, also known as Mawlid or Eid-e-Milad, is celebrated with enthusiasm by Muslims across the world. (ANI)
