In a splendid ceremony, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar today inaugurated the much-anticipated Soan Meeraas Cultural Fair at Presentation Convent Higher Secondary School (PCHSS) here.

The fair marks a significant cultural milestone, bringing together art, music, and tradition, in the heart of the valley.

Addressing the large gathering of students, parents as well as faculty of institution, Advisor Bhatnagar expressed his immense pleasure for being part of this vibrant event, highlighting the importance of celebrating culture and traditions. He remarked that with the growing modernity and desire for digital technologies, it is important not to forget our roots of unique culture and traditions.

The Advisor highlighted that this unique fair features an array of activities and performances for the students, including traditional music and dance, art exhibitions, interactive cultural workshops, local art and crafts, which will acquaint them about their past traditions and culture of their society. He commended the school administration for organizing this cultural extravaganza, emphasizing that education institutions have primary role in nurturing the cultural roots of our younger generation.

Advisor Bhatnagar, in his address, also spoke about various initiatives of J&K Government for streamlining the education system here. He highlighted that Jammu and Kashmir is among the toppers in implementing National Education Policy-2020. He added that the government has prioritised the incubation, innovation and vocational teaching in schools with an aim to prepare younger generation for future challenges.

The Advisor further said that the Jammu and Kashmir is playing leading role in empowerment of women and girl students and the girls are emerging as toppers and gold medal winners in Universities here. He added that the women are emerging as leaders and equal partners in innovations and entrepreneurship across Jammu and Kashmir.

On the sidelines of the fair, Advisor Bhatnagar also visited the exhibition area of school and interacted with the students there.

During the interaction, the Advisor applauded the students for participating enthusiastically in this exhibition as it reflects they are deeply rooted into their traditions and culture.

Pertinently, the Soan Meeras Cultural fair, hosted by PCHSS is a testament of celebrating rich cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir with an aim to nurture and educate younger generation about traditional culture, art and craft of the Jammu and Kashmir.
