SRINAGAR, JULY 23: The School Education Department in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory has taken a pioneering step by introducing the SAMIKSHA online platform, enabling more than 7 lakh students from 6th to 12th grade in government schools to provide monthly feedback on teacher performance and school-related activities.
Under the leadership of Deep Raj, Project Director from the SamgraShikha Department of School Education, the SAMIKSHA platform has received an overwhelming response. Initially launched as a trial basis, 2,000 students from various government schools actively participated and offered feedback, proving the platform’s effectiveness.
SAMIKSHA presents students with 25 questionnaires covering diverse aspects such as teacher performance, school activities, infrastructure, and sanitation facilities. Using a 5-point scale, students can grade these aspects as excellent, very good, good, average, or below average.
To accommodate students’ linguistic preferences, the questionnaires are available in Urdu, English, and Hindi, allowing them to provide feedback in their chosen language. It ensures confidentiality, ensuring teachers do not have access to the feedback shared with the school education department.
Project Director Raj announced that starting from August this year, students will continue providing monthly feedback, allowing the school education department to receive real-time insights on teacher performance and other school-related aspects. The data collected will be used to provide appropriate training and implement necessary measures at the grassroots level.
In a ground-breaking move, the students’ feedback will also play a pivotal role in ranking all government schools in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. This holistic approach aims to foster continuous improvement in the education system and promote overall development.
