Kulgam, Oct 28: The Education Department of Kulgam organized a district-level sports competition for children with special needs at the sports stadium on Saturday.
The program was graced by Mohammad Jahangir Khanday, Joint Director of Education (south), along with Mushtaq Ahmad Qadri, Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Kulgam.
The Joint Director said, the Education Department of Kulgam has arranged a sports competition for children with special needs. We extend our congratulations to them for hosting this program.
He went on to highlight the government’s efforts in providing focused training for teachers to impart knowledge to children with special needs.
“We have ensured the availability of specially-abled friendly facilities such as toilets and ramps. The government is dedicated to ensuring these children enjoy a fulfilling life,” he said.
He said that this program aims to bolster the confidence of these children, enabling them to excel in their future pursuits. The intention behind integrating them into regular schools is to prevent them from being stigmatized.
“My message to parents is to not conceal children with special abilities. They should send them to school, and the government is striving to contribute positively. They are equally capable and deserve trust and recognition,” he added.
Dilshada Akhtar, a specially-abled student, expressed her gratitude towards the Education Department for organizing this event.
She said, we are delighted to have participated in this sports competition and appreciate the efforts of the education department.”
“The program included activities like carom board, chess, tug of war, races, and more. I am elated that we were given the opportunity to showcase our talents to the world. Such programs provide a platform for us to showcase our abilities,” she added.
