Jammu, Mar 20: Following the Election Commission of India’s directives post the announcement of the 2024 LokSabha polls, the Jammu and Kashmir Election Department has conducted training for officials designated to the flying squad and other key roles, Rameshwar, a senior officer of the Election Department, stated:
“The officials assigned to roles such as the flying squad, Returning Officers (ROs), Assistant Returning Officers (AROs), Nodal Officers, and others have completed their training in preparation for the 2024 LokSabha polls,” he added.
“Training for the polling staff, set to be deployed during the Parliamentary elections, will commence shortly,” added sources familiar with the matter.
“The Election Commission of India (ECI) has supplied the necessary Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to all 20 districts of the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir for the upcoming 2024 LokSabha elections.”
“The EVMs have been securely received and stored in the strong rooms of each district in J&K, under stringent security measures.”
“In Jammu, the EVMs are housed at the Government Polytechnic College at BikramChowk, with heightened security measures in place in and around the premises.”
“Following the completion of polling staff training, the EVMs stored in the strong rooms of each J&K district will be transported to individual polling booths across the UT under tight security, utilizing GPS-equipped vehicles,” he said.
