Srinagar, Aug 12: Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather on Saturday said that early detection of non-communicable diseases is a must and people should adopt a healthy lifestyle.
“Early detection of disease is important for proper treatment and people must go under screening,” he said after inaugurating a NCD screening camp organized by DHSK under the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign.
The director stressed on preventive aspects of NCDs which is becoming a fast-spreading epidemic and causing high incidence of morbidity and mortality across the world.
Rather emphasised on the fact that all people above 30 years of age should get themselves screened for NCDs especially diabetes and hypertension and people adopt healthy lifestyle for control and early detection of these diseases.
He said such camps will be organized in other districts as well as it will be a better tribute to our country when we will be able to keep people away from NCDs.
As per the figures more than 100 people were screened out of which 15 were detected for hypertension, nine had impaired glucose and six were found to be diabetic.
