Anantnag, May 22: In a bid to promote youth participation in sports and physical activities, the Department of Youth Services and Sports in Anantnag District recently organized a series of engaging events. These initiatives aimed to nurture talent, encourage healthy competition, and provide a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills.
One of the highlights of the department’s activities was the Zonal Level Volleyball tournament for Boys under the Age Group of 17, organized by Zone Bidder. With over 15 teams participating, the tournament witnessed intense matches and impressive displays of teamwork. The event proved to be a resounding success, attracting a large number of spectators who cheered on the talented young athletes.
Continuing the enthusiasm, Zone Achabal took the lead in organizing an Inter-school Badminton competition for Boys under the Age Group of 14 & 17. Both government and private schools enthusiastically participated in this event, demonstrating their passion and competitive spirit. A total of 790 students showcased their badminton skills, creating an atmosphere of excitement and camaraderie.
Furthermore, Zone Vailoo contributed to the district’s sporting endeavors by hosting an Inter-School Zonal Level Yoga Event for students under the Age Group of 14 & 17. The event aimed to promote physical and mental well-being among the youth, emphasizing the importance of yoga as a holistic practice. Students from various schools participated, showcasing their flexibility, balance, and inner strength.
These events served as selection platforms for talented student players, who will go on to represent their respective zones in future competitions. The exceptional performers from Zone Bidder, Vailoo, and Achabal will now have the opportunity to showcase their skills at higher levels, thereby raising the bar for sports in Anantnag District.
