Kulgam Police while continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society and the back to back actions against the drug peddlers are being taken out in the district with the aim of bringing drug peddling to the zero level.
In this regard; a specific Naka was established by the police party of Police Station Kund at Waripora. During checking, one vehicle bearing Registration no. JK01M-2080 with one person who was identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Handroo S/O Abdul Aziz Handroo R/O. Boat colony Anantnag on board was intercepted. While searching; officers present were able to recover 03 Kg of Poppy Straw like contraband substance from the said vehicle in his possession. Also the said vehicle used in commission of crime has been seized.
During preliminary investigation, it came to fore that the said person is involved in the drug peddling and is promoting illegal menace and luring the youth of the area towards drug addiction. Regarding the incident, a case with FIR No. 01/2024 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered at Police station Kund and further investigation is in progress.
