Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police on Thursday arrested a drug peddler and recovered huge quantity of contraband substance from his possession in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
A Police spokesperson said, “During naka checking at Nowpora Chadoora,
Police party of Police Station Chadoora intercepted one person carrying a nylon bag roaming in suspicious condition. During search of the nylon bag carried by him, contraband substance Poppy Straw weighing about 18 Kgs was recovered from his possession.”
” He was arrested on spot and subsequently identified as Riyaz Ahmad Ahanger Son of Ghulam Mohiudin resident of Watakalo Charar shareef. After sustained questioning, on his disclosure 08 more nylon bags containing Poppy Straw weighing about 125 Kgs were recovered from deserted shed located at Nowpora Chadoora”, he said.
Police said that case FIR number 65/2023 under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered against the accused person at Police Station Chadoora and investigation taken up.
