Kupwara, May 13: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday said drug smuggling not only destroys families and society but also funds terrorism, stressing the need to eliminate drug networks operating in J&K.
Addressing a massive padyatra in Kupwara, Sinha said the money generated through drug smuggling provides “oxygen” to terrorist groups and helps sustain terrorism.“Drug smuggling does not only destroy families and the public, but also sells large quantities of drugs for terrorism.
Drug smuggling gives oxygen to terrorist groups,” he said.He called for strict action against drug peddlers and said authorities must completely break the chain that supports terrorism through narcotics trade.“We have to destroy the drug peddlers and also destroy the line of oxygen that leads to the fire of terrorism,” he added.
The Lieutenant Governor further said that police forces in Kupwara and Handwara would work together to intensify the crackdown against drug peddlers and dismantle the network operating in the region.
