Jammu, Feb 16: In a major push towards modernising agriculture, a demonstration of drone technology for foliar spraying of fertilisers was conducted in Khour village, Zone Kirpind, RS Pura.
The event was attended by MLA Suchetgarh, Gharu Ram Bhagat, and the Director of Agriculture, Jammu, Arvinder Singh Reen, along with a large number of farmers and agriculture officials.
The demonstration showcased how drones can revolutionise farming by ensuring precise and uniform application of fertilisers, reducing manual labour, minimising wastage, and boosting crop productivity. Among the fertilisers used were Nano Urea, known for enhancing nitrogen use efficiency, and Sagrika, a growth-promoting bio-fertiliser. Speaking at the event, MLA Gharu Ram Bhagat praised the adoption of advanced farming techniques, emphasising their potential to transform agriculture in the region. “It is heartening to see technology reaching our farmers. Drone-based fertiliser spraying will reduce costs, improve efficiency, and help increase yields. This is a step towards a more sustainable and profitable agricultural sector,” he said.
Director of Agriculture, Jammu, Arvinder Singh Reen, highlighted the game-changing impact of drone technology, stating that this innovation will enable farmers to apply fertilisers with greater precision, reducing labour dependency while maximising efficiency. “Integrating technology into agriculture is key to ensuring food security and enhancing farmers’ income. The demonstration underscored the growing role of technology in overcoming traditional farming challenges and signalled a strong commitment to promoting smart and sustainable agricultural practices in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
