Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurates StartUp Expo at Jammu

Jammu, Oct 01: Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh Saturday inaugurated Start-up Expo organized at Jammu.
In the expo, the government of Jammu & Kashmir was represented by Commissioner Secretary, Science & Technology Department, SaurabhBhagat, accompanied by a team of senior officers of the department, J&K Science, Technology & Innovation Council & J & J&K Energy Development Agency.
SaurabhBhagat highlighted achievements ofJ&K Science, Technology & Innovation Council. He apprised the Union Minister about the initiatives being taken up by the JKST&IC for promotion of Science, Technology and Innovation.
It was divulged that JKST&IC has been able to provide financial support to 123 short term, mid-term R&D projects involving Jammu and Kashmir Universities, SKUAST Jammu and Kashmir, IUST, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, SMVDU, Central Universities, Jammu and Kashmir besides others for conducting research towards addressing the local specific problems involving an expenditure of around Rs.5.50 crore.
Commissioner Secretary disclosed that the district administration, Jammu, has recently identified a site measuring 50-100 Kanal at Chowadi, Sunjwan, Jammu for setting up of a Sub-Regional Science Centre / Museum in collaboration with National Council of Science Museums, Ministry of Culture (MoC).
He urged upon the Union Minister to intervene and take up several issues with other Ministries regarding setting up of other parks like Robotics Park, Life Science Park, Aquatic Gallery, S&T Park, Nature Park etc. on the simulative basis as it is in the Science City, Ahmadabad.
Commissioner Secretary also disclosed that JKST&IC is having a joint venture with Indian Institute of Integrative Medicines (IIIM), Jammu regarding the K -5000 project where in 5000 kanal of land is to be cultivated for making of demonstration farms of Aromatic & Medicinal Plants.
He requested the Union Minister to provide requisite funds to JKST&IC for cultivation of 10,000 Kanal of land.
