Jammu, Apr 15: Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the Udhampur-Doda-Kathua Lok Sabha constituency, Dr Jitendra Singh on Monday assured the people that Section 254 C concerning land issues for displaced persons from Pakistan Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) is already under government review. He said the Congress Party and its allies are attempting to politicise a non-issue to confuse the masses on the eve of the election.
Speaking at a public rally in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Basohli, Dr Jitendra highlighted the government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of displaced persons. He cited instances where the Modi government had taken steps to fulfill the demands of various displaced communities, including those from PoJK.
The Union Minister criticised the previous governments, particularly the Congress, for neglecting the needs of displaced communities for decades. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has prioritized the welfare of all sections of society, irrespective of vote bank considerations,” he said.
Highlighting the efforts of the Modi government, Dr Singh mentioned the construction of a bridge at Keerian-Gandyal to cater to PoJK displaced persons, demonstrating the government’s commitment to addressing their needs. He also mentioned the granting of citizenship rights to refugees from Pakistan after nearly 70 years, a move aimed at providing them with equal opportunities.
Dr Jitendra said that under the Modi government, every section of society, including displaced persons, is safe and assured justice, regardless of caste, creed, or religion. He cautioned against trusting the promises of the Congress Party, which had failed to address these issues during its decades-long rule.
The Union Minister reassured the public that the Modi government is committed to addressing the grievances of displaced communities and ensuring justice for all citizens. He urged voters to consider the government’s track record of the past decade and make an informed decision in the upcoming elections.
