Srinagar, May 24: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah have greeted people on the annual Urs Observance of Hazrat Zeti Shah Wali (RA) Drugmulla, Kupwara.
Extending their warm greetings to people, the duo said the shrine is one of the most sacred destinations in Kupwara holding a prominent place in the Sufi mystic culture of Kashmir. They prayed that the auspicious occasion augurs well for the increased prospects of peace and prosperity in the region in general and district Kupwara in particular.
Meanwhile, the party’s provincial president and in-charge constituency Kupwara, Nasir Aslam Wani Sogami also felicitated the people on the auspicious occasion.
“The teachings of such sufis are grounded in the philosophy of universality, brotherhood, mutual love and respectability,” Nasir said, adding, “Thousands of devotees visit the shrine of this iconic mystic daily, but during the Urs days the number increases making it imperative for the administration to step-up the facilities for the visiting devotees.”
“As the Urs observance days will last for a week, I hope the local administration will ensure all facilities for the devotees. I hope and pray that the auspicious day acts as a harbinger of peace and prosperity in J&K,” he added.
Among others, the party’s senior leaders General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Addl General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Party Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan, Sharief-Ud-Din Shariq, MP Muhammad Akbar Lone, Mir Saifullah, and Qaisar Jamsheed Lone also extended warm greetings to people on the auspicious occasion.
