Srinagar, Dec 29: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah on Sunday appreciated the local residents of Gund Gandedrbal, Pahalgam and Qazigund for their “heroic efforts” in rescuing stranded tourists and providing them with food and shelter during the recent snowstorm.
Dr Farooq in a statement issued here commended their “exceptional hospitality” and a “strong sense of brotherhood”, saying their “selfless actions truly embody the spirit of Kashmir and Kashmiriyat”.
The NC chief recognised the swift response of government officials and departments in addressing the crisis and stressed the collective duty to ensure the welfare of all citizens.
Member Parliament (MP) Mian Altaf and NC provincial president Adv Showkat Mir also expressed gratitude towards the people involved in the rescue operations.
Mir urged the party’s zonal and district presidents to closely coordinate with local authorities to facilitate the restoration of essential services, such as roads, water, electricity and ration supplies, in the affected areas.
