Srinagar, May 05: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Friday extended warm greetings to the people on the Urs observance of Hazrat Syed Hassan Mantaqi (RA).
The party president while greeting people on the Urs said that the valley of Kashmir has the privilege of being the abode of saints and sages. “Ours is a society that has absorbed the cherished values of brotherhood and God-consciousness from the teachings of such great men. The need of the hour is to imbue their teachings in our day-to-day lives. The young generation in particular has to make it a point to read about such personalities,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Farooq Abdullah offered Friday congregational prayers at Asaar-e-Sharief Dargah Hazratbal, where he prayed for increased prospects of peace and prosperity in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
“He prayed for everlasting peace and prosperity in the region. He also prayed for bountiful provisions from the Almighty Allah for the people of J&K and Ladakh,” a party statement issued here said.
