Udhampur, March 12: Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi Wednes-day, held a Public Darbar at Eidgah, Udhampur, where prominent social representatives and mem-bers of the public engaged in discussions, shared concerns and presented suggestions.
Waqf Board CEO Zahir Kaifi and Administrator Jammu Abid Hussain accompanied her, along with civil society representatives Sheikh Tanvir Ahmad, Surinder Singh Khalsa, Waseem Akram, Anwar Hussain, and Tariq Shah. Ulema and Imams from Udhampur district were also present.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Andrabi highlighted the transparency and transformation in Waqf Board management over the past three years, emphasising the consolidation and modernisation of assets across Jammu and Kashmir. “Public endorsement of the Board’s initiatives in J&K is our guid-ing force. We are committed to strengthening Sufi centres across the region,” she stated. She also announced that the Waqf Board will construct a shopping complex on Waqf land in Udhampur, cre-ating employment opportunities for local youth and generating funds for further infrastructure de-velopment. She thanked Sheikh Tanveer for organising the public interaction. Later, Dr Andrabi chaired a meeting on Eid preparedness, attended by officials from various government departments and the Waqf Board, including ADC Udhampur Prem Singh, CEO Udhampur Municipality Rajinder Dhinga, Exen JKPDCL Mohammed Sareer, Naib Tehsildar Anayat Ali, and AIO Jewan Singh. She stressed the importance of coordinated efforts to ensure smooth arrangements for Ramadan and Eid celebrations.
