Srinagar, Oct 16: Dr Abdul Majid, Professor and HOD psychiatry SKIMS Medical College Bemina Srinagar was installed as President of Indian Psychiatric Society North zone at an event in Jaipur Rajasthan during the 47th Annual Conference of IPS North Zone held on Sunday.
Indian psychiatric Society North zone is an organisation with more than 500 mental health professions from 7 states/ UTs of northern India. In his presidential address tiltled “Disaster and Mental Health: how we suffered and what we learnt” and shared the experiences and road map ahead to prevent the mental health consequences of disasters with advancing technologies. Dr Majid, is first from Kashmir to be elected to this coveted post of reputed professional organisation.
Various research papers were presented and postgraduate quiz was conducted where in Dr. Hadiya Kar and Dr. Ajmal Anjum, Postgraduate scholars from SKIMS Medical College Srinagar and Dept of Psychiatry, GMC Srinagar (IMHANS) shared the first position. Dr Farhana and Dr Hadiya from SKIMS Medical College also presented their research papers and participated in the debate with faculty from Prestigious institutes like AIIMS New Delhi.
