Srinagar, Nov 28: DPS Budgam Marathoners outshine in District Athletics Championship organised by J&K Amateur Athletics Association held at Budgam Sports Stadium on November 22 last week. The school won a rich haul of 15 medals including 6 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze in the recently-concluded championship. The school contingent participated in 100-metre and 200-metre races.
The gold medal winners include Habbis Wani, Anjum-ul-Nisa, Aleefa Akhoon, Bareera Shabnam, Mohammad Easa Anim and Syed Sara, the school said. The silver medal winners are Asma Iqbal, Asim Hussain, Oman Showkat, Mohammad Uzair and Irtifa while Toiba Shafi, Irtiqa and Asma Iqbal bagged the bronze medal.
Congratulating the medalists, Principal Shobhna Sirohi said, “It is a great delight to see the students performing well and earning accolades for the school.”
The management while felicitating the winners said that the toughest and most well-trained students fared well. “The training the students had in the field yielded results,” it said. The winners were also felicitated at a special assembly held at the school.
