DPEO Kulgam reviews preparedness for smooth conduct of Revision of Panchayat Electoral Roll

Kulgam, Jan 15: The Deputy Commissioner/ District Panchayat Election Officer (DC/ DPEO) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan on Monday chaired a meeting of EROs, AEROs and other concerned officers at mini-secretariat here to review the arrangements and preparations made for successful conduct of Revision of Panchayat Electoral Roll in the district
The DPEO issued instructions in light of the State Election Commission guidelines for carrying out revision of Panchayat Electoral Roll with qualifying date 01.01.2024.
He instructed that field staff viz. PEBOs who are VLWs/ MPWs/ GRS to visit house to house for receiving of forms from the eligible inhabitants who have achieved the age of 18+ and are not enrolled in the Panchayat Electoral Roll yet.
The DPEO directed EROs/AEROs and BDOs to monitor the progress of PEBOs during the revision period and ensure wide publicity of Panchayat Electoral Roll in all panchayats.
During the meeting, it was revealed that the special camps will be organized on 27 & 28 January, 03 & 04 February, 2024 at Polling booth locations. The Assembly BLOs and Panchayat Election Booth Officers (PEBO) shall remain available on designated Special Camp Days in the panchayat polling stations along with sufficient forms 2A, 2B, 2C and 2D for addition, deletion, correction and transposition respectively.
It was also informed that final Panchayat Electoral Roll-2024 will be published on 26-02-2024 and period for filing of claims and objections for Additions/ Deletions/ Corrections and Transpositions is from 15-01-2024 to 05-02-2024.
It was also shared that the revision started from today 15th January and shall complete on 26th of February, 2024 and the drafts Electoral Roll with sufficient forms were issued to the field staff for use during revision period.
The meeting was attended by Dy-DEO, EROs, AEROs and other concerned officers.
