Doda, Aug 13: Former chief minister and Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad on Sunday reiterated that he will continue his political battle to secure the jobs and land rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and said that his aim of returning to Jammu and Kashmir is attached with the socio-political emancipation of commoners.
Azad also said that if elected to power, he will focus on development and corruption-free governance.
Addressing a public rally at Chiralla, Bhaderwah on the last day of his 10-day long and extensive tour of the Chenab Valley, Azad said, “My heart is beating for the people of the Chenab Valley and the rest of UT. My dream is to work for you people and ensure all of you are politically and economically empowered to an extent so that you won’t need to beg before anyone.”
The DPAP chief said that during his meeting with various delegations, he was apprised of a number of public issues and he promised of taking them up with the authorities for their redressal.
Azad said his party was strongly against the “coercive measures” of land eviction by the Jammu and Kashmir government and it was due to the party’s protests that the administration was “forced to stop the drive”.
The former CM said that securing land and jobs for local people is the primary agenda of his party. “Therefore, the fight shall continue until the guarantee is granted by the GoI,” he said.
Among others present in the meetings were G M Saroori Vice Chairman, Ab Majeed Wani General Secretary, Mohd Aslam Goni Working Committee Member, Rtd IGP P R Manhas Zonal President, Asif Gattu District President DPAP, Farooq Shikari Provincial Gen Secretary, Pritam Kotwal and others.
