Srinagar, Jan 06: The Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) and Apni Party have separately raised concerns over the decision to outsource electricity from the Ratle power project in Jammu and Kashmir.
The DPAP, in its criticism, condemned the Jammu and Kashmir administration for entering into a contract with a Rajasthan-based company for the Ratle power project, highlighting the outsourcing of electricity from the Union Territory.
Salman Nizami, the party’s chief spokesperson, questioned the move, especially considering the severe energy shortage in the region. He called it a “bizarre move” and urged the LG administration to clarify the terms and conditions of the agreement.
The he people of Jammu and Kashmir have the primary right over their resources, and any decision should prioritize their needs, Salman said in a statement.
Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari expressed serious concern over the leasing of electricity from the Ratle Power Project in Kishtwar to Rajasthan.
He termed it puzzling that, at a time when Jammu and Kashmir is grappling with an acute electricity crisis, the decision was made to lease electricity to another state. He questioned the administration’s stance and said there is a contradiction between purchasing power from other states and leasing out its own supply.
Both parties called on the J&K administration to provide clarity on the matter and address the concerns of the people. They said there is a need for transparency and accountability in decisions related to crucial resources like electricity.
