JAMMU, July 06: In a major development, the Crime Branch (CB) conducted simultaneous raids on the office of the Principal and the Dean’s office at Government Medical College and Hospital-Jammu (GMC-J). The raid also extended to the residence of GMC-J Principal, Dr. Shashi Sudan Sharma, located in Bakshi Nagar, near the institution.
Following the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) on July 3, Dr. Shashi Sudan Sharma, who stands accused of tampering with her Date of Birth (DoB) and providing false information about her age during the MBBS test and subsequent employment, went on leave. Furthermore, she managed to obtain interim bail from the court.
The extensive seven-hour-long raids by CB officials commenced at 10 am and concluded at 5 pm, during which the entire record and documents pertaining to the GMC-J Principal were meticulously scrutinized. Official sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity, revealed that the CB team seized the records from both the Principal’s office and the Dean’s office, encompassing Dr. Sharma’s admission to the MBBS course until her appointment as Principal of the esteemed healthcare institution.
Despite multiple attempts, officials concerned remained unavailable for comment, declining to respond to inquiries.
The FIR against Dr. Shashi Sudan Sharma, registered under Section 154 Cr.P.C, was filed by Manu Gupta. The complaint alleged that Dr. Shashi Sudan, wife of Dr. Sudesh Sharma and resident of H/No 26 Bakshi Nagar, Jammu, manipulated her age documents to gain an unfair advantage during the admission process at GMC Jammu.
An ensuing investigation revealed that Dr. Shashi possessed two Date of Birth certificates, indicating birthdates of April 8, 1964, and April 8, 1965. The FIR copy of the Crime Branch-Jammu confirmed that she had been serving in a government capacity based on forged or fabricated documents.
