Div Com ensures smooth arrangements for Shab-e-Meraj

SRINAGAR, FEB 02: The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, conducted a comprehensive review of arrangements at key religious sites to ensure the smooth observance of Shab-e-Meraj and the subsequent Friday.
During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner emphasised the need for adequate facilities, including drinking water, power, medical services, and sanitation, at prominent shrines and mosques such as Aasar-i-Sharief Hazratbal, Aasar-i-Sharief Kalashpora, Jenab Sahab Soura, Ziyarat Sharief Kabamarg, Ziyarat Sharief Khiram, Anantnag, Ziyarat Sharief Makhama, and Ziyarat Aham-i-Sharief Bandipora, where a large number of devotees gather for prayers on the night of Shab-e-Meraj.
Various officials from different departments, including DCs, officers of FCS&CA, Health Services, PDD, PHE, R&B, SMC, Sanitation, Horticulture Department, SRTC, Traffic Department, and police attended the meeting. The Div Com instructed the concerned authorities to ensure uninterrupted power supply, functioning street lights, and continuous water supply. The SRTC was tasked with arranging ample transportation along all connected routes to Aasar-e-Sharif Hazratbal, particularly during night prayers, and identifying suitable parking areas.
Additionally, the Fire & Emergency department was directed to station fire tenders strategically for the safety of people and infrastructure. The SMC officer was instructed to conduct sanitation drives at shrines and mosques and organize a team for dog catching at Hazratbal Shrine. The Div Com emphasized the deployment of a team of doctors, paramedics, and ambulances at all mentioned locations, especially at Aasar-e-Sharief Hazratbal.
All DCs were directed to assess arrangements in their respective districts, especially at prime religious locations, and ensure the availability of civic amenities. Police officers were tasked with making security arrangements, while traffic police were instructed to devise a plan for smooth traffic movement on identified routes. The Div Com also stressed the allocation of extra buses during the dispersal of devotees after prayers.
