Bandipora, Sept 16: The District Wushu Championship in Bandipora concluded on Monay at Salvatore International School, Shilvat. The two-day event, organized by the Wushu Association of J&K and sponsored by the J&K Sports Council, saw the participation of around 270 boys and girls from various institutions and clubs across the district.
The championship was inaugurated on September 15 by Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, who served as the chief guest. Other prominent attendees included SDPO and SDM Sumbal, as well as Padma Shri awardee Faisal Ali Dar, who highlighted the importance of Wushu in fostering personal and professional development among the youth.
Participants in the event competed for the opportunity to represent Bandipora at the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory-level competition. Haya Qazi, Chairwoman of Salvatore International School, emphasized that hosting the event aimed to engage the youth and address social issues by promoting constructive activities.
Wushu has gained popularity across India, and the Bandipora district’s championship reflects its growing success, particularly as a sport supported by the Government of India.
