District SVEEP action plan discussed at Ganderbal

Mega awareness events to be held at Sonamarg & Manasbal under SVEEP

GANDERBAL, SEPTEMBER 07: In a bid to boost electoral participation in the upcoming Assembly Elections 2024, District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Ganderbal, Shyambir, chaired a meeting today to review the ongoing activities under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program.

During the meeting, the DEO emphasized the crucial role of voting in strengthening democracy, urging every voter to exercise their right to choose the right candidate. He called upon officers to adopt a multipronged strategy, organizing various mobilization events to engage the target audience effectively.

Shyambir stressed the importance of leveraging technology and media like print, digital, electronic, folk, and inter-personal platform to ensure no voter is left behind.

He further directed the Chief Education Officer to organize special events and theme-based programs in schools to raise awareness about the significance of voting, empowering students to further spread this message in society.

The meeting also discussed plans for mega awareness programs at popular tourist destinations Sonamarg and Manasbal in the coming days. The concerned CEOs were instructed to finalize the arrangements and coordinate activities with the District Election Office.

Additionally, Tehsildars, BDOs, and Returning Officers (ROs) of both Assembly constituencies were directed to organize similar outreach events in their respective jurisdictions to promote voter participation.

The DEO urged all officers and stakeholders to work diligently towards ensuring a high voter turnout and smooth conduct of the upcoming elections in Ganderbal.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, RO Kangan, RO Ganderbal, CEO SDA, CEO MDA, Deputy DEO, CEO, and other officials.
