Kargil, May 03: District Hospital Kargil of the Union Territory of Ladakh has successfully performed Ladakh’s first total conservative parotectomy to treat a Deep Lobe Parotid Tumor. This historic surgery represents a significant advancement in the region’s healthcare capabilities, made possible through the integration of cutting-edge technology and enhanced digital connectivity.
Central to this achievement is the hospital’s implementation of the Picture Archiving & Communication System (PACS), which provides surgeons with direct access to detailed CT images in the operating theater. This advanced technology plays a critical role in surgical planning and precision, significantly enhancing the quality of care.
The complex procedure was expertly executed by a dedicated team led by ENT Surgeon Dr.Oliyath Ali, with the support of Anaesthetist Dr. Asif Hussain. Essential assistance was provided by Mrs. Sakina (ENT OT Assistant), Iqbal (OT Assistant), Kazim (Anaesthesia Technician), and Mussa. Their collaborative effort ensured the meticulous dissection and preservation of the posterior branch of the greater auricular nerve and all branches of the facial nerve, crucial for optimal patient outcomes.
