JAMMU, Feb 11: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting in New Delhi to review the security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir. Amit Shah directed all the security agencies to remain alert and work in a synergies mode to eliminate terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Home minister also directed the Border Security Force (BSF) to ensure ‘zero infiltration’ from the border areas by strengthening the border grid and use of advanced technologies for surveillance and border guarding.
“We are taking strong steps for the ‘Zero Terror Plan’ in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said, emphasising the government’s resolve to eliminate terrorism in the region.
The meetings were attended by senior officials, including the Union Home Secretary, Director of Intelligence Bureau (IB), and Director Generals of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Border Security Force (BSF).
During the review meeting, Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated the commitment of the Narendra Modi-led Central Government to ensure a ‘terror-free’ Jammu and Kashmir.
Shah outlined key areas of focus, including monitoring terror-financing, intensifying efforts to combat narco-terrorism, and dismantling the entire terror ecosystem in J&K. “Our objective is clear—to eliminate terrorism and ensure lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
To achieve these goals, the Home Minister directed the BSF to enhance vigilance along the international borders, with a focus on zero infiltration. He called for the strengthening of the border grid and the use of advanced technologies for improved surveillance and security operations.
Shah also instructed the CRPF to continue working in synergy with the Indian Army and J&K Police. He reviewed the winter action plan of the CRPF and emphasised the importance of ensuring effective area domination, particularly in Jammu and its surrounding regions. “Focus on dominating the heights,” he directed, stressing the importance of securing key strategic areas.
The Home Minister took stock of the intelligence apparatus in J&K, directing them to increase coverage and improve intelligence gathering. He stressed the importance of technology in generating quality intelligence, particularly for monitoring terror activities and financial networks supporting terrorism.
Shah further urged all security agencies to remain alert and continue working in a coordinated manner. “We are committed to eliminating terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. All resources will be made available for this mission,” he assured.
Meanwhile, the Home Minister directed the agencies to counter negative propaganda by anti-national elements, ensuring the truth is accurately communicated to the public. He reiterated the government’s commitment to a ‘terror-free’ J&K and highlighted the importance of collaboration among security forces and intelligence agencies in achieving lasting peace.
