Rajouri, Apr 14: Member of Parliament (MP) Mian Altaf Ahmad Larvi on Monday chaired the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting here to review the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes and development works in the district. Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma briefed the MP about the status of the ongoing developmental initiatives across different sectors.
The MP took a comprehensive review of centrally sponsored schemes including MGNREGA, PMAY (Gramin & Urban), Tribal Welfare Schemes, Solid and Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) and the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA). He reviewed the implementation of the Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) and the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).
Evaluating performance in the health sector, the MP took a detailed review of the functioning of Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri. The MP emphasized the need to improve patient care facilities and directed the Principal GMC to ensure the early functioning of the Child and Maternal Hospital. He called for timely estimation and construction of a Sarai in the hospital.
Expressing concern over the shortage of medical staff, he directed the concerned authorities to expedite the process of filling vacant posts of doctors across the district.
Mian Altaf took stock of the progress under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). He directed the concerned officers to ensure that machinery for all lift water schemes is installed by December 2025 and instructed for the early commissioning of the filtration plants.
While reviewing the Power Development Department (PDD), he called for necessary improvements to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the region. The MP issued strict directions to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to expedite work on the Rajouri–Thanamandi–Surankote road and on the Jammu–Poonch National Highway. He directed the PWD to ensure proper maintenance of all roads across the district.
Mian Altaf assessed the status of pension schemes for old-age beneficiaries, widows, and beneficiaries under the State Marriage Assistance Scheme (SMAS), and stressed on timely disbursal of benefits to the eligible persons.
The meeting was attended by DDC Chairperson Advocate Naseem Liaquat; MLA Rajouri Iftikhar Ahmed; MLA Budhal Javed Iqbal Choudhary; MLA Kalakote, Thakur Randhir Singh and MLA Thanamandi Muzaffar Khan.
The MP appreciated the efforts of the district administration and urged all departments to work in coordination to ensure the effective implementation of development schemes and welfare programmes for the benefit of the people of Rajouri.
