Jammu, Mar 02: Director of Sericulture, J&K, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat on Saturday inaugurated the Silk Mark Expo 2024 in Jammu organized by the Silk Mark Organization of India under the aegis of the Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, at Kala Kendra.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director said the event aims to celebrate the timeless elegance of pure silk and protect consumers from the menace of duplicity and counterfeit products. He said the expo offers consumers across India the opportunity to enjoy the luxurious allure of pure silk and rightfully expect authenticity in their purchases.
“There are fraudulent traders selling impure silks crafted from inferior materials, which threatens the integrity of this cherished textile,” he said. “To instill confidence among buyers regarding genuine, finest quality original silk products, the Silk Mark Organization of India holds such expos nationwide. These expos serve as a vital platform for genuine artisans to showcase their exquisite craftsmanship and connect with patrons who value the essence of pure silk.”
Bhat further shared that the Silk Mark Expo Jammu 2024 showcases a wide variety and diverse commercial silk products, including Mulberry, Tassar, Eri, and Muga. He said attendees can explore a rich tapestry of silk traditions from different weaving clusters across India, with every product proudly bearing the Silk Mark Label for purity assurance. The thematic pavilions offer a captivating glimpse into the sericulture industry, featuring stunning displays of cocoons, yarn, and fabric.
He encouraged people to visit and enjoy the Silk Mark Expo 2024 from March 01 to 08, 2024, at Kala Kendra, Bikram Chowk, Jammu. With over 20 stalls representing renowned silk weaving clusters from states across India, attendees can explore a diverse selection of silk products, from exquisite sarees adorned with intricate embroidery to stylish silk bags, shirts, dhotis, and garments for both ladies and gents.
The Director Sericulture invited the silk enthusiasts in Jammu and beyond to partake in the Silk Mark Expo 2024, and encouraged consumers to immerse themselves in the enchanting world of 100% Pure Silks and show support for the talented weavers and artisans shaping India’s silk heritage. The event was also attended by Dr N K Bhatia, Director, CSR&TI, Pampore, and K S Gopal, CEO, SMOI, Bengaluru.
