The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal today visited Paddy, vegetable fields in different villages of Kulgam District and took stock of present agriculture Activities and the interventions by the department vis-a-vis different crops.
While interacting with the farmers at different villages including Radwani and adjacent areas, Director Agriculture asked the farmers to strictly follow the instructions and guidelines by the concerned officers of the department during different cultivation operations.
He said there is a vast potential for vegetable production and paddy cultivation in these areas and to grab this potential the farmers and the department ought to work in a coordinated manner. He directed the concerned officers to increase the frequency of field visits.
Director Agriculture said that fluctuating weather conditions is a challenge therefore different cultivation operations need to be strategized accordingly. He asked the farmers to go for integrated farming so that the impact of changing climate could be minimized.
He highlighted the importance of eco-friendly agriculture and impressed upon the concerned officers to increase the awareness among the farming community regarding various eco-friendly agriculture technologies, besides the centrally sponsored schemes implemented by the department.
