Jammu, Feb 17: A five-day Human Resource Development (HRD) programme on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) was inaugurated Monday at Kisan Kendra, Talab Tillo, by S. Arvinder Singh Reen, Director of Agriculture Jammu.
The event, organised by the Central Integrated Pest Management Centre Jammu, was attended by distinguished officials including Satish Sharma, Joint Director (Extension) Agriculture, Dr. Vishal Gupta, Professor & Head of Plant Pathology at SKUAST-J, Alok Pandotra, Deputy Director (Training), and Dr. Mithilesh Kumar Arya, Deputy Director (Plant Protection) CIPMC Jammu.
The HRD programme aims to provide 40 pesticide dealers and progressive farmers from the Jammu division with valuable knowledge on the safe use of pesticides, the importance of CIB&RC-approved chemicals, and the role of botanicals in fostering sustainable agricultural practices. Participants will gain technical insights into Integrated Pest Management techniques such as biological control, cultural practices, and the use of resistant crop varieties, enhancing their ability to manage pests effectively while preserving the environment.
