Srinagar, Nov 02: The Alamdar-e-Kashmir conference was held at Ahata Waqar, Chanapora, under the aegis of the District Legal Services Authority and the District Social Welfare Office, Srinagar.
Speakers at the conference emphasized the importance of spreading the message of Hazrat Sheikh Noor Din Wali (RA) regarding human love, morality, and truthfulness. They stressed the need to make the profound words and ideas used by the revered Sufi saint more accessible and understandable to a wider audience.
During the event, Ghulam Nabi Adfar, renowned for translating the verses of Hazrat Sheikh into Urdu and English, was felicitated. His book “Alchemy of Light,” containing translations of Hazrat Sheikh Noor Ud Din Wali’s verses, was introduced to the senior citizens present at the occasion. Adfar shared his experiences with the audience, providing unique insights into the teachings of the saint.
Writer and Poet Inayat Gul, along with Ali Ahsan, both hailing from Chrari Sharief, the abode of Hazrat Sheikh Noor Ud Din Wali, presented elaborate commentaries on Adfar’s book “Alchemy of Light”.
Professor Farooq Fayaz delivered a thought-provoking speech, emphasizing the need to preserve Kashmir’s cultural legacy, which he described as the hallmark of Kashmiri Reshism. He highlighted Hazrat Sheikhul Aalam’s significant role as a socio-cultural practitioner and called for the translation of Hazrat Shaikh Noorud Din’s (RA) verses into other languages to spread his message and mission of humanity on a global platform.
Former Deputy Director General of All India Radio, Srinagar, Bashir Aarif, highlighted Sheikhul Alam’s status as a symbol and torchbearer of Kashmiryat, emphasizing that his teachings were instrumental in eliminating evils from society. Aarif urged unveiling the multifaceted dimensions of Hazrat Sheikh based on strong historical evidence, dispelling the mist of myths and tales surrounding his life and teachings.
Ghulam Jeelani Nehvi, retired IAS officer, stressed the importance of following the teachings of human well-being enshrined in Sheikhul Alam’s verses. He called for community involvement to eradicate prevalent societal issues, especially drug addiction.
The event also featured a lively Mushaira, where prominent poets like Bashir Aarif, Mohammad Yaseen Madhosh, Inayat Gul, Wali Waheed, and Mushtaq Mehram recited their inspiring poems, adding to the cultural richness of the gathering.
Distinguished guests included Shabir Mujahid, former Director of Doordarshan; Zafar Iqbal, former Chief Engineer; Dr. Sameena, Principal of Girls Higher Secondary School; Abdul Bari, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer; and Farooq Wani, Editor of Brighter Kashmir, among others.
Chairman of Ahata Waqar, Ab Gani Parray, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all attendees and participants. The event was skillfully conducted by the Secretary of Ahata Waqar, Er. Khazir Mohd Trag, who captivated the audience by reciting verses of Alamdar-e-Kashmir. Dr. Laila supervised the arrangements, ensuring the comfort of all the guests.
