Srinagar, Dec 29: Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Jehangir Bakshi on Sunday inspected the functioning of some health facilities in central Kashmir Ganderbal district.
An official of the Health Department said Dr. Bakshi inspected District Hospital Ganderbal and PHC Kachan to review readiness and quality of health services being delivered to the public.
During the visit, the director assessed availability of essential medicines, functionality of diagnostic equipment, and heating arrangements to ensure patient comfort during the harsh winter season.
He interacted with healthcare staff to understand their challenges and emphasized the need for maintaining a patient-centric approach in service delivery.
At DH Ganderbal, Dr. Bakshi inspected critical care facilities, including the emergency department, operation theaters and labor room.
He reviewed the adequacy of oxygen supply, availability of life-saving drugs, and the functionality of ventilators and other advanced medical equipment.
At PHC Kachan, Dr. Bakshi stressed officials to ensure uninterrupted primary care services, particularly in rural areas. He reviewed the immunization programs, maternal and child health services and the preparedness to handle emergencies.
The director also stressed the importance of data-driven monitoring for services such as OPD attendance, institutional deliveries, and chronic disease management.
He instructed the staff to ensure real-time reporting of stock levels of medicines and consumables through a centralized drug inventory management system. He directed the heads of hospitals to strengthen referral mechanisms to higher centers for timely patient care.
The director highlighted the importance of maintaining seamless healthcare services during the ongoing winter season. He urged the hospital administration to coordinate with local authorities to ensure snow clearance on roads leading to health facilities.
“It is our responsibility to ensure that no patient is deprived of care, regardless of the weather challenges. The focus remains on strengthening primary, secondary, and tertiary care services to meet the healthcare needs of every citizen,” Dr. Bakshi said.
