Dir Agri reviews district wise progress of developmental schemes

  Jammu, Sep 27: Director Agriculture Jammu Anil Gupta Saturday convened a series of comprehensive review meetings over the last two days with all Chief Agriculture Officers (CAOs) and Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) of Jammu Division to evaluate the physical and financial progress under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS), CAPEX, and NABARD. As per a statement issued here, the meetings were attended physically by CAOs and DDOs of Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Udhampur and Reasi districts, while the officers of Poonch, Rajouri, Kishtwar, Doda, and Ramban participated through Video Conference. Senior officers from the Directorate who were present included Deputy Director Agriculture (Central) Sanjeev Rai Gupta, Deputy Director (Planning) Priyanka Parihar, Regional Level SMS Sanjay Anand, Accounts Officer Vishnu Kant Sharma, Technical Officer HADP (DoAJ) Raj Kumar, besides other officers and staff. Addressing the meetings, Director Agriculture underscored that benefits under all schemes must be extended to farmers strictly through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). He directed that expenditures be reported component-wise and stressed that capacity building programmes must be carried out as per the notified calendar. Highlighting the scope of diversification, Anil Gupta called for greater focus on the promotion of floriculture projects under HADP, expansion of nurseries and polycarbonate structures, and scaling up of apiculture activities alongside traditional farming to enhance farm incomes. He further emphasised the need for effective coordination and communication between Agriculture officers and allied departments to ensure timely and result-oriented implementation of programmes.
