Billawar, Apr 03: Director Agriculture Jammu (DAJ) Anil Gupta on Friday visited Sub-Division Billawar, where he chaired a meeting to review agricultural activities and enforcement of the Fertilizer Control Order.
The meeting was attended by Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officers of Kathua, Hiranagar, Basohli, and Billawar, along with SDL SMS Billawar, AEOs, Agriculture Assistants (Input), and the law enforcement team. Chief Agriculture Officer Jatinder Kumar joined virtually.
The Director reviewed ongoing agricultural activities and issued directions to strengthen fertiliser regulation, promote sustainable practices, and enhance farmer outreach. He stressed strict monitoring of fertiliser sale centres and directed officers to ensure regular physical verification of stock and its reconciliation with POS data to prevent discrepancies, hoarding, or diversion.
He also reviewed preparations for the next phase of the Viksit Bharat programme and called for mass awareness campaigns through camps to educate farmers on judicious use of fertilisers, balanced nutrient management, and departmental schemes. Special emphasis was laid on the “Dharti Mata Bachao Abhiyan” to promote soil health and sustainable farming practices.
Reiterating adherence to the Fertilizer Control Order (FCO), 1985, the Director stressed proper record maintenance, transparency in transactions, and prevention of overcharging.
